Proofreading - What do I look for?
I can't guarantee what will be on the test. However, these are the skills listed in the 7th grade GLEs:
Remember: when you are correcting sentences, you want them to be clear (easy to read and understand) and concise (not wordy).

- Commas to separate introductory words or phrases
- Commas to set off direct quotes
- Commas to separate nouns of direct address
- Commas to separate coordinate adjectives
- Semicolons to separate independent clauses
- Colons to separate independent clauses
- Pronoun-antecedent agreement
- Comparatives and superlatives
- Correct use of adverbs (adjectives vs. adverbs)
- Double negatives
- Misplaced or dangling modifiers
