- DIAGRAMMING SENTENCES: You will be asked to diagram 1-2 sentences. You will be given the framework.
- QUOTE ANALYSIS: When given a quote from Romeo and Juliet, you should be able to identify the speaker, the person being spoken to, the context (where, when, and why), the meaning, and any figurative language used.
- SHORT CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE: You will be given a discussion question on Romeo and Juliet, which you will answer in a well-developed paragraph (approx. 10 sentences), giving specific details from the story to support your answer.
Multiple Choice Section:
- SPELLING: Be able to proofread for spelling errors involving the first nine sets of words (absence - publicly).
- GRAMMAR: Be able to proofread for errors and/or determine the correct way to write a sentence. Questions will involve commas, semicolons, colons, apostrophes, adjectives vs adverbs, and pronoun case.
- DRAMA:
- Know the meaning of the drama terms given in class
- Know the meaning of Romeo and Juliet words to know, #1-15
- Know the events of the entire play, including the scenes that we did not read but discussed in class.
- Know the characters in the play, including who they are (personality) and how they relate to each other. Hint: study the character diagram that your very nice teacher gave to you.
- Be familiar with the quotes to know: be able to identify the speaker, who is being spoken to, the context (where, when, why), what it means, and if it’s an example of a literary element.
